Well done to the 10 swimmers that traveled to Leeds this weekend to represent Chorley Marlins in the City of Leeds October meet. They were-Lizzie Woodcock, Chloe Cottam, Milly Archangelo, Georgia Ashton, Ellie Anwyl, Isaac Brennand, Joe Archangelo, Scott Paynter, Bradley Astles and Jack Hardman. It was very over subscribed and there were over 1000 rejected entries in total, meaning that nearly all of our swimmers were rejected from at least one event. However, in the events that we remained in there were lots of Personal bests and 19 top ten finishes. Well done to our two finalists Lizzie Woodcock(100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly) and Jack Hardman(100 freestyle and 100 butterfly). Special mention goes to Joe Archangelo and Jack Hardman, who got bronze medals in the 10 years 50m breastroke and the 13/14 years 100m butterfly final respectively. ![]() This weekend, 29 of our swimmers travelled to Blackpool to compete in the Micro League Division A Swim Off. The aim of the competition was to finish in the top 2 and stay in the top Division. The team put in an amazing effort and did just that. For some of our older swimmers it was their very last micro league and they will therefore be competing in duel the pool later on this year. Everyone in the 12 year old age group got at least 2 first places in the relays as well as some getting wins in their individuals. What an amazing way to end their last micro league season! Well done to the individual winners- Lizzie Woodcock (12 yrs 50 free+ 50 fly) , Luka Hyam (12 yrs 50 back) , Isaac Brennand (11+12 yrs 50 fly) , Liam Hardman (11 yrs 50 free) , Joe Arcangelo (10 yrs 50 back + 50 free), Alex Fitzpatrick (10 yrs 25 fly) and Georgia Ashton (10 yrs 25 fly) The relays were also strong with the 11 year old boys and 12 year old boys and girls all winning both the medley and freestyle relays. ![]() Well done to all our swimmers who competed at the dukeries open meet at Sheffield last weekend. Well done to Lizzie Woodcock for winning the top 12yr old girl award for the highest amount of FINA points obtained in a single event! She was closely followed by 5 other swimmers who made the top 3 - Jack H , Jack D and Anna D finished 2nd and Bradley and Chloe finished in 3rd place. There were 13 of our swimmers who finished in the top 10. And finally - points are accrued from the fastest finishers in each event to give a points total for each club at the end of the meet. Chorley finished a very creditable 3rd place only 11.5 points behind 2nd!! A great improvement on last year when we were 6th. A huge well done to all the swimmers who made this possible, not just down to the medallists! Despite good all round effort by Marlins swimmers in the last micro league gala on Saturday, they narrowly missed out on securing their place in Division A. They will therefore be competing in the 'Division A swim off' at Blackpool in September against Clitheroe (also from division A) as well as Wigan and Lancaster from Division B.
On the day, Chorley Marlins finished 3rd behind Preston 'A' who finished 3rd in the league and Pioneer 79 who finished 5th overall. They achieved 107 points which placed them 28 points ahead of Clitheroe. There were great performances from swimmers who had to compete in older age groups, they were: Georgia Ashton, Isaac Brennand, Scott Paynter, Liam Hardman and Joe Arcangelo. Individual wins were achieved by: Lizzie Woodcock(free+fly), Georgia Ashton(fly+back), Isaac Brennand(breast+fly), Joe Arcangelo(free) and Luka Hyam(back). Well Done to: 9yrs: Sarah Glen, Imogen Blackwell, Emma Hinks, Ellie Hancock, Luke Batty, Callum Ward, Jayden Lowe, Joe Parkinson 10yrs: Georgia Ashton, Mia Louise Pilkington, Emma Baker, Rachel Parr, Joe Arcangelo, George Wilson, Alex Fitzpatrick, Daniel Caley 11yrs: Holly McHugh, Keira Dunstan, Katie Henry, Isaac Brennand, Scott Paynter, Liam Hardman 12yrs: Lizzie Woodcock(captain), Maddie Kennedy, Milly Arcangelo, Anika Anderson, Luka Hyam(captain) Chorley Marlins had an excellent performance in the 3rd round North Lancs gala last saturday coming 2nd to Preston who are currently top of the league. This was even more remarkable due to several regular swimmers being unavailable those who did take part had to swim in more events, in higher age groups, and had shorter breaks. The best performance of the meeting had to be the girls open freestyle relay, which was won by a large margin even though two of the swimmers, Elodie(13) and Lizzie(12), were quite a lot younger than the opposition (usually 15 or older).
Well done to: The 12/u: Lizzie Woodcock, Milly Arcangelo, Maddie Kennedy, Georgia Ashton, Isaac Brennand, Luka Hyam, Scott Paynter, Liam Hardman The 14/u: Chloe Cottam, Elodie Smallwood, Eleanor Anwyl, Helena Heald, Jack Hardman, Bradley Astles, Stephen Hancock, Jordan O'Hara Open: Emily Barclay, Anna Doughty, Elliot Smallwood, William Hawkes, Ben Gibbs, Joe Gibbs |
