A BIG thank you to all those that supported the club by entering this years sprint meet. Some great swims all round, lots of PB's, no records were broken but some were equaled this year (nearly Tom nearly) There isn't room here to mention everyone but special mention must go to the following:

Well done to the 5 swimmers that represented Chorley Marlins at this years Regional Age Group Championships.
There were some great swims, PB's were smashed and needless to say a few tears shed along the way. Fantastic, well done to the following swimmers: Chloe Cottam - qualified for 8 events, reaching the final in 3 of them (400m Im/100m Fly/200m Fly) Jack Hardman - qualified for 4 events. Lizzie Woodcock - qualified for 3 events, reaching the final of the 100m Free and winning the bronze medal. Alex Highcock - qualified for 2 events. Luka Hyam - qualified for 1 event. To even qualify for the Regional Champs is a fantastic achievement, every credit goes to the level of commitment and attitude to training that each of these swimmers has shown over the last 12 months. A big thank you to all the coaching staff as well, as without you these swimmers would not be able to accomplish what they have. For a full run down of the results click here. The meet started off with the 400m free on the Friday evening where there were some fantastic pb's by our swimmers. The rest of the races took place over the weekend. Again we had some great performances, many medals and pb's. There was a great atmosphere and lots of smiling faces (apart from when some of them were being forced by Mary to join in the 'We will rock you' theme at the start of the session!) The team brought home a total of 30 medals !! We had 5 top 10 finishers in the BAGCATS and finished 6th in the total team points. A great result all round. This round of the North Lancs League was another stern test for our swimmers with many of our usual ones unavailable. This put pressure on the team, some of who had to swim up to eight races. Many swimmers had to swim up an age group and for some swimmers even two age groups. However, they were up to the challenge and swimmers such as Isaac are building a reputation for taking on the older boys.
Our experienced national and regional swimmers led by example and this helped the younger team members focus on maximising points without wasting energy on lost causes. This achieved an important result finishing 17 points ahead of Burnley which is likely to be significant at the end of the season. There were some creditable first places for Marlins swimmers and many other notable performances. Such as Maddie Kennedy who got a second after not being able to train for almost a month and also the Arcangelo sisters Millie and Amelia, their performance was so seamless you could almost believe that they were the same person. But the most phenomenal performance was by our youngest swimmer (according to Mary's sheet D.O.B. 18/10/08) Anna Doughty- truly phenomenal in the open age group. The only real concern for the team was the standard of the start in the girls 12/u 50 fly. However, once Lizzie had found the right end of the pool she put on a good performance. Well done to: The 12/u's - Lizzie Woodcock, Maddie Kennedy, Milly Arcangelo, Katie Doughty, Isaac Brennand, Luka Hyam, Callan Sharples, Liam Hardman The 14/u's - Chloe Cottam, Ellie Anwyl, Alex Highcock, Jack Hardman, Bradley Astles, Jordan O'Hara Open- Anna Doughty, Tom Gibbs, Ben Gibbs, Jack Dandy, Elliot Smallwood A huge well done to all our swimmers who entered the Wrexham gala over the Bank Holiday weekend. Yet again lots of great performances and pb's by all our swimmers below : Girls - Alex Highcock, Eleanor Anwyl, Chloe Cottam, Lizzie Woodock, Holly McHugh, Katie Doughty, Alex Donohoe, and Hannah Astles. Boys - Jack Hardman, Bradley Astles, Luka Hyam, Liam Donohoe, Nathan White and Liam Hardman. They brought home a total of 39 medals!! which was absolutely fantastic. Well done to our swimmers who didn't manage to bring home a medal, they all swam some great races. And well done to Chloe who is now the 3rd Marlins swimmers to be on the current record holders' list, having swam a meet record in both the 50 fly and the 100 fly in the 12yr old category. Let's hope to see a few more names on there next year! Full results and record holders' list below. ![]()
