Well done to all the participants at the Chorley Marlins & Leyland Barracudas Shrimps Gala last weekend. It was wonderful to see these young Marlins swimmers competing. This was the first time the swimmers had ever swam in a gala. It was a very exciting meet with some very good results for the club.

Members may be interested in enrolling for the SENW Young Volunteer Award. The Swim England North West Young Volunteer Award is designed to provide young people, between the ages of 14 and 17 at the start of the course in June, the opportunity to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to prepare them as Volunteers within Aquatic Sport.

You can read more and signup here. Please let the Club know if you have enrolled. We would like to hear from anyone interested in becoming a swimming coach. This is open to anyone over 16 years of age so could be of interest to swimmers aged 16+, parents, family members and friends.
Coaches help swimmers to grow their capability and develop the skills and techniques to achieve their full potential. An assistant coach can start by simply helping during training sessions, with the option of taking formal training courses. In return for a commitment to volunteer with Chorley Marlins for 1-2 hours a week the club will support you in achieving a coaching qualification through experience and funding. The first level of qualification focuses how and what to coach. Once completed, coaches are qualified to actively support a more senior qualified or licensed coach at any level, in the delivery of a pre-prepared session. Volunteering with Chorley Marlins could be a useful addition to CVs and University application personal statements. We would also like to hear from anyone who has previously helped at training sessions and would be willing to support the club again. if you have an interest in coaching, then please speak with Mary or email Bev for further information [email protected] Arrangements for the North Lancs Swim League Round One fixture on Sunday 16th January at Darwen Leisure Centre. Admission is 2.30pm and warm Up 2.45pm.
Please note that spectators numbers at Darwen Leisure Centre are restricted to one person per family. Can any outstanding training fees please be settled as soon as possible. Please make sure the correct level of fees is being paid if you swimmer has changed group, for example moving from Mini Marlins (30 minute lessons) to Development group (60 minutes) or moving to a different training squad. Please note that the Marlins Club membership is also due for payment this year for Development Squad and above (not applicable for Mini Marlins).
